National Apprenticeship Week: How GB Lubricants Invests in the Next Generation

It’s National Apprenticeship Week and GB Lubricants would like to celebrate its amazing apprentices. Since 2024 GB Lubricants has been a member of the 5% club, a group of employers committed to building a workforce in earn & learn positions with the goal being to build a prosperous and skilled nation by inspiring other employers across the country to create more of these positions within their own businesses. These opportunities enable people to train, retrain, and upskill within their roles.

During last year, Ebony Gribbin joined us as a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, she is now part way through her apprenticeship, which will be over 2 years. This is an exciting and varied role as she is working closely with colleagues when they are researching and developing new oil and lubricant technologies.

Quote from Ebony “I am really enjoying being part of the technical team at GB Lubricants.  It has been very interesting to see firsthand how a busy laboratory operates, and just how much testing is involved at each stage of the process. I am learning lots of new skills and becoming more competent and confident in my abilities.”

GB Lubricants’ Technical Manager, Paul Crozier said: “GB Lubricants is keen to continue the development of more employees like Ebony in earn-and-learn positions throughout the business. The laboratory technician apprenticeship role was specifically created so that GB Lubricants could help an individual kickstart their career in the science and lubricants industry. We have seen several success stores over the recent years not just in the Technical Centre but also in various parts of the business. It’s been a very rewarding experience for everyone”
