GB Lubricants celebrates Oscars win

A little Hollywood stardust found its way to Gateshead this week when GB Lubricants Finance Manager, Tim Berkeley, woke to the news his nephew Tom was an Oscar winner. Tom won the award in the Live Action Short Film category for his film ‘An Irish Goodbye.’ Having written and directed the film with his collaborator Ross White, Tom’s Oscar win follows on from a BAFTA win just a few weeks earlier. Tim commented “the whole experience has been quite surreal for myself and the family watching events unfold from afar. We are immensely proud of what he’s achieved at such a young age. Many of my colleagues here at GB Lubricants have been following this story as they knew the family connection, and there was much excitement in the office on Monday morning after the Oscar news came through “. 

The black comedy tells the story of two estranged brothers who come together in rural Ireland after their mother’s death. You can read more about this incredible achievement here. It is also currently available to watch via BBC iPlayer.
