A customer reported excessive wear on 5th wheels due to poorly performing grease, requiring a better-performing product for arduous conditions.
The competitor-made lithium-thickened grease that the customer was using performed poorly in wet and dusty conditions, and could be easily washed out, leading to no lubrication and excessive friction. This issue presented itself in a customer’s articulated trucks’ 5th wheel and led to failure under heavy loads, with the component needing to be replaced, which was both expensive and time-consuming.
To develop a grease combining thickener system and performance additives that have excellent water washout, heavy load and adhesive properties.
