Stephen’s a man with a mission

Southport-based sales representative Stephen Hawksworth is a man with a mission in his new job with a well-established British oil company.

He has been recruited by GB Lubricants in Gateshead to increase the company’s customers across North West England, an area he knows well from his previous employment.

Focused on the cities of Liverpool and Manchester, his sales area extends as far north as the Lake District and he sells a portfolio of high quality engine, transmission and hydraulic oils and greases.

The lubricants are used in everything from construction equipment and forestry machinery to the latest range of fuel-efficient trucks used in the road haulage industry.

Stephen, 35, joins the company after four years as technical sales consultant for the Wigan branch of Safety Kleen and is looking forward to visiting many of his old customers who have oil and grease requirements.

Having spent his entire career in sales, he was attracted to GB Lubricants, which celebrated its 140^th birthday in 2017, by a desire to work for a family-run business producing quality products.

Most of his customers are involved in the commercial, plant hire, engineering and automotive industries.

“I have a lot of business connections in Liverpool and Manchester through my previous jobs and many are engineering companies,” said Stephen. “My ambition is to grow the customer base quickly and to progress with the company.

“GB Lubricants is a very good set up and it’s like being part of a big family with the back-up it provides. The company has a loyal following which is down to its customer service and quality products, which have full traceability.”

Married with two children, Stephens enjoys playing golf and cricket in his spare time. A former member of Royal Birkdale Golf Club, he has a plus one handicap and has played with Tommy Fleetwood, a new member of Europe’s Ryder Cup team, in the past.
