Quality and integrity in everything we do

Manufacturing independently in Gateshead for 140 years…

Maintaining customer relationships are fundamental to our success.

In 1877 at the dawn of the mass-market adoption of earliest combustion engines, mineral oils were in their infancy. That year JC Goodall was founded to service the local market in the North East of England. In 1882 TWG Bates joined the firm and Goodall, Bates & Co was formed with an oil works and office in Newcastle upon Tyne and a grease manufacturing facility in neighbouring Gateshead. In 1902, JC Goodall retired leaving room for TWG Bates’ two sons, Herbert and Harry to join the firm.

In 1906 the business became incorporated and continued to grow demand for its products. In 1931 the Company amalgamated with C & J Todd, Burnside Oil Works, Newcastle upon Tyne, with the newly formed company becoming Goodall, Bates & Todd Limited. Shortly after the amalgamation process the company decided to focus upon their Gateshead facility in which the company is located till this day operating under the name of GB Lubricants. Today GB Lubricants is undergoing an exciting and progressive era within its history with multimillion pound infrastructure investment, new product development and enhanced value-added services. The Company continues to provide quality and integrity to customers within its traditional heartlands of Scotland and the North East whilst developing emerging international markets.
